September 29, 2025 – The Government of Canada is investing $40 million through the Strategic Response Fund in Hitachi Energy Canada’s expansion. The funds will support scaling its HVDC (high-voltage direct current) transformer manufacturing facility in Varennes, building a state-of-the-art test lab, and launching an HVDC simulation & collaboration centre in Montréal.
